Living consciously is one of the six pillar of self esteem. Living consciously is having the ability to be aware of your surroundings and to react accordingly. Yet so many people sleepwalk through parts of their lives, barely aware of what’s happening, their self esteem on hold. Are you living as consciously as you can?
As life has evolved on planet Earth, ever more conscious creatures have emerged, culminating in mankind. Within our species today, we recognise a range of levels of consciousness, with more mature and more developed people having higher levels of consciousness. Consciousness is a tool that effectively determines your ability to progress in your world – the higher your consciousness, the more competent you know you are and the higher your self esteem.
The opposite of living consciously is living in a dream world where you become increasingly unable to cope with the reality around you and your self-esteem is reduced. Typically you will be deep in denial, make excuses, and blame external circumstances for all the bad things in your life.
How to live consciously
There are two parts to living consciously. Being aware of the world around and taking appropriate action to respond in the best way possible for all concerned in response to the circumstances you encounter. Consciousness should not be confused with intelligence or knowledge, you may not understand all of the circumstances that surround you, but if you have done the best you can, then that is the best you can do. Your self esteem will be intact.
Awareness is the ability to be conscious of your external and internal environment. When you are aware you have the appropriate understanding of what is going on around you.
For example, if you are talking to someone, you give them your attention, you listen to their words, you are aware of their tone of voice, their body language and past interactions. You are fully engaged with that person and you are able to respond to the best of your ability to the conversation.
Awareness of your surroundings is also important, you need to be aware of where you are, your social context, the key issues of the day as they affect you. All this adds up to the knowledge that you need to deal competently with the world around you.
Awareness of your internal environment is another key factor. A conscious person understands their own internal drivers. You are aware of your emotions so that you can avoid letting them cloud your judgement. You also know what is important to you and where you are in relation to your goals for your work and your life. You are aware of your own mental faculties and can enjoy watching them work.
Another aspect of living consciously is that you understand limits of your capabilities and you actively work to improve your capabilities. As a conscious person you are committed to lifelong learning to improve your understanding. You also undergo personal growth to improve your ability to manage yourself when dealing with the world around you.
Living consciously is one of the six pillars of self esteem. Conscious living is being aware of what is happening both around you and inside you so that you can be in the moment, forming a clear and unbiased picture of the world. You are then know how you need to respond.
Once you have this clear picture, a conscious person then takes the best action that they can at all times. When you do this you will know you are capable of responding in the best way you possibly can to the world around you and you will raise your self esteem.
